You Favorite Designer & Retail Blogs

Designers and retailers are beginning to catch on that we want more than just a storefront or an online retail site. We like to stay up-to-date and in the know about our favorite designers/retailers. Many have started tweeting and recently I have noticed that many are blogging as well. I have gathered a few great designer/retailer blogs to share with you. Some you have seen on my site before and some your have not. This is a great way to get to know your favorite designers and an even better way to discover some new favorites. Happy Monday and happy blogging!

Kitch, Fun, and Style at Modcloth

Modcloth is a great site for vintage inspiration, fun gifts, and kitch galore. Founded by Eric and Susan Koger, Modcloth is one of the most interactive online stores I have come across. They Tweet, Facebook and blog, like many retailers do these days, but they take it one step further with the Be The Buyer Program. You, the consumer, are given the opportunity to vote on some of the future products carried on Modcloth.com. Who wouldn't love for all retailers to ask our opinions?! Check it out, be the buyer, and do some shopping!

Here are some of my favorite fun finds from ModCloth:

Seeing Red

I don't wear red so I am apparently going to be very out this fall. As I turn the pages of Vogue, Elle & Bazaar, I am seeing pages and pages of variations of red. Sometimes deep and rich and other times bright and loud, red is a statement color that doesn't shy away from being noticed. So, as all the fall and winter clothes are currently being placed in stores in the heat of the summer, think beyond staying cool and jump start your fall with rojo, rouge or roseus. However you say it...red is THE fall color.

Rooftop Gardens

Rooftop gardens have been cultivated in cities for many years and have been written about and photographed for just as long. I have noticed on a few blogs lately some gorgeous rooftop garden pics and was inspired to write a little about it myself. Not only are rooftop gardens great for the environment, they are great for the soul. Beautiful and often colorful, when you are in a concrete jungle a rooftop garden is a wonderful escape for the senses. Enjoy these gorgeous garden pics I dug up.

Double the Talent: Tommy & Christie Smythe

Tommy and Christie Smythe cover the best of both worlds in one family. He is an HGTV star and amazing interior designer with a taste for all things fine. She is the owner (along with Andrea Lenczner) of Smythe Les Vestes clothing company that specializes in the most beautiful jackets. Their styles are both completely chic with a mix of cutting edge and classic design. If I could just have Tommy decorate my home and Christie dress me, I would be a happy camper. Check out the amazing work of the Smythe's below.
